Admissions Guidelines have been developed to support the mission and philosophy of St. Mary’s Primary School. These guidelines pertain to initial admission and annual re-registration of returning students. All complete applications and registrations will be considered in accordance with these Admissions Guidelines.
Entry Date
Nursery students must be three years old and Pre K students must be four years old as of August 31st. St. Mary’s Primary School follows the policy of the Taunton Public School system for entrance to kindergarten. Children entering kindergarten must be five years of age as of August 31st and will require screening.
Entrance to grades one through five requires the satisfactory completion of the present grade in a recognized public or private school as well as academic readiness testing is required.
Fees
An application fee of $150 per student is non-refundable and due with the application for new students. A re-registration fee of $150 per student is non-refundable and due with the re-registering of returning students. These fees serve as commitment so that a space can be reserved for the applicant/registrant and the school can effectively plan and prepare its budget for the following year.
Priority Acceptance Guidelines
St. Mary’s Primary School has a primary obligation to the students currently enrolled and any siblings, as well as the parishioners of St. Mary’s Parish in Taunton, MA. Re-registration for returning students and parishioners is available as of January 4, 2010 and are due by January 29, 2010. Open registrations will begin on January 31, 2010 and applications/registrations will be considered in the order they are received.
Non-Discrimination Policy
St. Mary’s Primary School admits qualified students to its program. The school does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin, or disability (if with reasonable accommodations; the student can successfully meet the program).
Waiting Lists
St. Mary’s Primary School recognizes that waiting lists for specific programs/grade levels may occasionally occur. In this event, applicants will be placed on the waiting lists in order that the applications and registrations are accepted and received.
Visit
A day visit in the applicant’s grade level may be arranged at a time that is agreeable to both the school and parent.
Support of the School’s Mission
Parents/guardians of applicants acknowledge by submitting an application that they understand the school’s mission and philosophy and intent to fully support the school in its goals and objectives. They also agree to meet the financial obligations.
