Admission Information

Our ultimate mission at St. Mary's is to establish a sound background in education thereby enabling Saint Mary's students at the middle school level to bear witness and function successfully in our ever changing society.

All of us at Saint Mary's Primary School attempt to meet the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of each student by developing each person's unique academic potential.  Religious values are woven into all subjects in the curriculum.  Remedial work is also often given before or after school by the faculty, and close contact with our parent community greatly aides the students in reaching their full potential.

In offering our students a challenging education, we emphasize the following core subject areas:

Religion
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Language Arts
(including English, spelling, reading and handwriting)

Each of the above subjects correlates with the Diocese of Fall River's Curriculum Guides - a list of criteria created to support and foster as a set of expectations for Core Learning.  These guidelines enrich St. Mary's instruction and truly bring about greater student achievement.

In addition to these core subject areas, Saint Mary's Primary School also offers the following "Value Added" instruction:

Art
Music
Physical education
Library

Instructional Technology
Quest International (drug awareness curriculum)
D. A. R. E.
Foreign language
(pilot program with Coyle and Cassidy High School)
Inter-generational program with Marian Manor.

In terms of instruction, various techniques are utilized to assist each student in reaching his/her academic potential.  Individual work, cooperative learning, use of manipulatives, hands-on instruction, tutoring, guest speakers, community interaction, and field trips all lead to a well-balanced curriculum.
